About Dorris

To work closely with Dorris Walker-Taylor is to experience her kind spirit, optimistic outlook, contagious smile, and beautiful voice.

A 2012 graduate of the Thistle Farms Residential Program, Dorris has overcome 26 years of addiction, abuse, exploitation, and trafficking. Today, she stands as a survivor, speaker, author, and advocate who proudly shares her story of healing, hope, and transformation.

Dorris describes herself as a grateful Thistle Farmer. She was given a chance to heal, and with the dedicated love and support of Thistle Farms Residential and Thistle Farms Justice Enterprises, she was able to put her life back together again. She is committed to paving the way forward and speaking out for women around the world who have yet to find their way home.

Her voice has been featured in numerous interviews and platforms, including a poignant conversation with Rev. Becca Stevens during the 2017 CNN Heroes Awards, as well as appearances on the Today Show, the 700 Club, the radio program Step Into the Light, and with Truckers Against Trafficking.

Speaking Life Into Every Audience

Whether speaking virtually or in person, to large audiences or intimate groups, she masterfully weaves her personal experiences into a message of transformation and restoration that inspires others on their own paths of healing and recovery.

Dorris is also a graduate, employee, and vendor/entrepreneur at Thistle Farms. She is the author of Hope Is Always Real and Blessings in the Rain, both available through the Thistle Farms shop and website.
